OUR HISTORY

New Life Christian Ministries was founded under the incomparable leadership of Bishop Tommy P. Johnson, Sr on December 9, 1995. On that day, he and seven families met in the cafeteria of Niceville High School (Niceville, FL) and established New Life Missionary Baptist Church. They held their first worship service in the same location on December 17, 1995. Their first officiates were Rev. T.P. Johnson (Sr. Pastor/Founder), Rev. Henry T. Beach (Minister of Music), Wendell James (Church Clerk), Carolyn F. Coleman (Secretary/Treasurer), Cynthia Beach (Youth Ministry Director), Carmen “Jeanne” Washington (Musician), Nancy Bembow (Director of Ushers), and Joyce Yulee (Chairperson). There were 30 original members and more to join in the months to come.

On May 8, 1996, the church changed its name to New Life Baptist Church and officially organized as a mission in the Florida Baptist Convention. The church continued to grow in number and interconnectivity with the surrounding community. They hosted their first annual Sunday School picnic, baptized 10 candidates, established a church office and conducted Bible studies. New Life partnered with community groups for education and outreach, hosted a Haiti Benefit Concert, launched an after-school program and extended the reach of the Gulf Coast Bible College and Seminary with Bishop T.P. Johson as a lead professor.

In October of 1997, New Life Baptist Church moved into our current location at 130 N. Partin Drive in Niceville, Fl. This move was followed by the church’s final name change to New Life Christian Ministries in August 2001. New Life continued to grow in membership and influence as they crusaded in foreign countries spreading the love and hope of the message of Jesus Christ for years to come. God continued to elevate, bless, and empower Bishop T.P. Johnson until GOD He saw fit to consider His servant’s work “well done” in 2013.

Bishop Johnson was succeeded by Bishop John W. Pace II. Bishop Pace furthered Bishop Johnson’s vision through technical means. He worked diligently to expand the social media influence of New Life. He was a key advisor to the ministry uplift and outward appearance. He functioned, flowed, and empowered followers on the ideologies of the prophetic and started New Life’s University of the Prophetic. He ordained five (5) ministers and one (1) Apostle. Though his tenure was short lived, there were many valuable lessons learned and taught.

Pastor Shevon Peet was installed as the Sr Pastor/Teacher following Bishop Pace. With a professional background in counseling, Pastor Peet led New Life through a period of healing and renewed faith. She was instrumental in building the bridge with other rostered ministers encouraging and enabling them to “stir up the gifts” that God placed in them. Pastor Peet was pivotal in working through the rocks and representing New Life as the diamond of Gods treasure.

As God directed, Pastor Peet yielded her leadership tenure to Bishop Jeremy D. Hollis EFFECTIVE December 21, 2025.
